Neree Pateman
Oceania
Neree has been passionate about wildlife and conservation from a young age, beginning her studies in Zoology in 2012 to deepen her understanding of the natural world. Driven by a lifelong connection to animals, she has always felt called to be a voice for wildlife and to make a meaningful difference.
During her time at university, Neree studied abroad in Botswana and Antarctica, gaining first‑hand experience in some of the world’s most fragile ecosystems. She actively volunteered with local rescue groups and conservation organisations, including IFAW, and spent time working in remote wildlife sanctuaries overseas.
Neree joined IFAW in 2021 to facilitate supporter engagement and inquiries. Through this work, she discovered her true passion for connecting people with meaningful impact and supporting programs that protect wildlife where they need it most.
Today, Neree holds a dual role within IFAW. She continues to lead the Oceania office’s supporter relations engagement while also being a part of IFAW’s program team where she supports the team’s wildlife crime, policy, and marine efforts across the Oceania region. She is especially committed to addressing illegal wildlife trade and strengthening protections for vulnerable species throughout the region.
She is also a member of the CITES Global Youth Network (CGYN), representing Australia for the past two years. In this role, Neree collaborates with young conservation leaders around the world to combat illegal wildlife trade and champion the long‑term survival of global biodiversity.
