Majesty in Motion: Whales and the future of our seas
Majesty in Motion: Whales and the future of our seas
Across the world’s vast blue expanse, whales move like poetry in motion—majestic, vital, and increasingly at risk. On World Ocean’s Day 2025, Evoca Foundation and the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) come together to honour these giants of the sea and raise awareness of the threats they face—and the solutions within reach.

Why whales? Why now?
Whales are more than awe-inspiring creatures—they are engineers of our ocean ecosystems and climate heroes in their own right. From cycling nutrients to capturing carbon and supporting the microscopic life that gives us every second breath, whales play a vital role in the health of our planet.
Yet their future hangs in the balance.
From entanglement in fishing gear, to underwater noise pollution, vessel strikes, and the worsening impacts of climate change, whales are navigating increasingly hostile seas. But there is hope—thanks to organisations like IFAW and Evoca Foundation.

Turning the tide with IFAW
Together, we’re helping to:
- Rescue and protect endangered whales through cutting-edge entanglement response and community-led conservation
- Reduce ocean noise pollution advocating for slower, quieter ships
- Prevent vessel strikes with real-time alerts and smarter shipping routes
- Empower coastal communities, like those in Kenya, to become first responders and guardians of their marine ecosystems
Explore these initiatives and meet the whales—and people—at the heart of this work.
Watch the film: Majesty in Motion
This campaign is anchored by a short film created by Evoca Foundation using footage from marine explorer Rachel Moore. It invites viewers to experience the wonder of whales—and understand what’s at stake.

Take Action
Every one of us has a part to play in protecting the ocean and its magnificent wildlife.
Together, we can shape a future where whales and the ocean thrive.
Let’s protect the majesty in motion. For the whales. For the planet. For all of us.
