some pets hate going to the vet, others never get the chance
In Berlin, working with a local organization, we provide low-cost veterinary care for pets in need.
Problem
When pet owners experience financial hardship, they may face a heartbreaking decision: either scrape together what little money they have to take care of themselves—or take care of their pets.
At IFAW, we believe that an owner’s income shouldn’t get in the way of a pet’s quality of life.
Solution
We started working with Tiertafel, a German organization that provides a “soup kitchen for animals.” But as we helped provide support to those in need, we discovered another problem: infrequent visits to the vet.
So, in 2010, we opened a low-cost veterinary practice—in the same building as Berliner Tiertafel e.V.—for pet-owners receiving public assistance in Berlin.
Every problem has a solution, every solution needs support.
The problems we face are urgent, complicated and resistant to change. Real solutions demand creativity, hard work and involvement from people like you.
