How IFAW has helped animals and people during the Ukraine crisis
Learn moreIFAW's First Inauguration of the Center of Excellence (CoE)
In an in-person ceremony on 9 August, IFAW celebrated a milestone with the inauguration of its first-ever global Center of Excellence on Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Housed within IFAW’s International Operations Center, the new Center of Excellence builds upon decades of emergency response experience ranging from mass strandings to natural disasters to climate change.
In the words of Azzedine Downes, IFAW President and CEO, “This is indeed a historic moment. With over 650,000 animals rescued worldwide over the past two decades alone, IFAW is uniquely positioned to significantly advance the field of animal rescue through our innovative Center of Excellence to further maximise our impact and save the lives of more animals across the globe.”
Through its curriculum offered both in-person as well as virtually, the Center of Excellence will lay the groundwork for additional rescue programmes internationally, delivering best practices in animal rescue to a broader global audience. A generous grant was provided by the Suzanne McGraw Foundation.
