While we face uncertainty of how the near future will evolve, we also remain committed in our unwavering mission to ensure that animals and people thrive together is more important than ever.

Facing the global COVID-19 crisis manifests the fundamental principle that individual animals matter. They matter when being traded at wildlife markets, they matter when being rescued from unprecedented bushfires and they matter when we respond to natural disasters, where we are separated from our beloved companion animals. It is a story that survives only if we are able to evolve, adapt, and yet remain focused. It is a story that is based on one key character—the individual animal.

Taking a moment to reflect on what we have achieved together allows us to feel even more committed about the future, our dedication to fresh thinking and bold action for animals, people and the place we call home.

Where others work only to save an entire species, IFAW rescues, rehabilitates, and releases individual animals, one by one, for they contribute to biodiversity in their habitats and can mean the difference between losing or saving an entire species. Biodiversity and healthy habitats link directly to human wellbeing and we recognize that this today is more valuable than perhaps ever before.

Our 2019 annual report offers a great overview of our main achievements and while not conclusive of our work, shows the tremendous importance of what we do.
