world wildlife day 2021 youth art contest
Thank you to everyone who submitted art for this year's World Wildlife Day youth art contest!
In coordination with World Wildlife Day’s theme "Forests and Livelihoods: Sustaining People and Planet", the art contest aimed to highlight the essential role of forest ecosystems. Artists were encouraged to depict the connection between animals, communities, and forest landscapes.
18-year-old Ka Yi Siu from Hong Kong SAR, China was selected as the winner for her stunning piece aptly entitled Balance Between Urban and Nature. According to Danielle Kessler, Acting US Country Director for IFAW, "The range of global participants and the depth of skill and expression in this year’s contest was extraordinary. Ka Yi Siu's piece really resonated with the judges for its beautiful juxtaposition of both urban and rural elements that are so often closely intertwined in our everyday life. So many youth artists embrace their role as stewards of the natural world and we are delighted to provide them with a platform for that expression.”
A big congratulations to Ka Yi Siu and the other 12 finalists. Check out their work below!
