John Kogada

John M. Okandi Kogada is a programme and development specialist with over 16 years of experience directing large-scale, multimillion-dollar programmes across Africa, Asia, and South America, with expertise in strategic leadership, multi-country programme management, donor engagement, policy advocacy, and institutional strengthening. 

At IFAW, John provides strategic oversight for community engagement programmes across three continents, advancing climate resilience, inclusive conservation, and sustainable livelihoods.  

His previous leadership roles at Amref Health Africa, Plan International, and HJF Medical Research International have seen him drive systemic policy reforms in child protection, gender equality, and public health, while building strong partnerships with governments, multilateral institutions, and civil society. 

John is a lover of the arts and African music and spends his free time with his dogs.
