Phillip Kuvawoga

Phillip Kuvawoga leads strategy development for IFAW’s global landscape conservation work and manages the implementation of on-the-ground projects globally, focusing on habitat security, community livelihood interventions, and research.
He has been with IFAW since 2019 and previously served as the Landscape Program Director. A passionate steward of nature, Phillip has more than 20 years of experience in environmental planning and conservation. Throughout his career, Phillip has collaborated with government agencies and international non-governmental organisations to enhance the governance of natural resources in Africa.
With a passion for conservation and a knack for strategic planning, he has crafted comprehensive management and tourism plans for Hwange, Gonarezhou, and Mana Pools National Parks. His work has played a crucial role in significantly reducing poaching in Hwange.
Phillip holds a Bachelor of Science Honors in Rural and Urban Planning and a Master of Science in Environmental Policy and Planning from the University of Zimbabwe, as well as a Master of Business Administration in Conservation Leadership from the Africa Leadership University (ALU) School of Wildlife Conservation in Zimbabwe. He is also a Nature Executive Fellow, having completed the ANCA Nature Executive Fellowship Program, which is delivered in partnership with the African Leadership University School of Wildlife Conservation and the Smith School of Enterprise and Environment at the University of Oxford.
