2020 post-election statement

The International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) wishes to congratulate President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris for their victory in the 2020 US Presidential election.

We both embrace and encourage their steadfast commitment for America to take swift, bold action to address critical environmental issues of our day. From stronger storms and more intense wildfires driven by climate change, to species extinctions and a global pandemic, we are already seeing the impacts of human activities that threaten our natural world. We look to the new Administration to embed principles of environmental and species protection throughout their policies, building upon and strengthening bedrock environmental laws, such as the Endangered Species Act. It is time to establish the US as a global leader on issues that threaten the stability of our collective future upon this shared planet.

We look forward to working with the new Administration in the coming years to improve the well-being of animals, people, and the places we call home.
