Board members

Joyce C. Doria, Chair of the Board

Joyce is a former Senior Vice President, elected member and chair for the Worldwide Audit Committee of the Board of Directors of Booz Allen Hamilton. During her career, Joyce consulted for the Secretary of State, the president of the Brookings Institute, US Congress and multiple Assistant Secretaries and Commissioners of the Departments of Energy, Transportation, Treasury, Defense and Interior. She also has served on the board of the National Parks Conservation Association.


Robert Barber

Rob is the former United States Ambassador to Iceland, having led U.S. Embassy Reykjavik from Jan. 2015 - Jan. 2017 under an appointment by former President Obama. In March 2017, Ambassador Barber resumed his commercial law practice as a partner in the Corporate Practice Group of Boston-based Prince Lobel Tye LLP to spearhead the firm’s outreach to international businesses. Rob is an experienced corporate attorney who has acted as outside general counsel to many start-ups and emerging businesses. Prior to Iceland, he was a partner for 30 years at the Boston firm Looney & Grossman LLP, for several years on its Management Committee and for three years its Managing Partner.

Mark T. Beaudouin, Vice Chair

Mark has been the Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of Waters Corporation since 2003. Prior to joining Waters, he served as Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of PAREXEL International Corporation, a bio/pharmaceutical services company, BC International, Inc., a development stage biotechnology company, and J. Baker, Inc., a diversified retail company. He began his legal career at the Boston law firm of Nutter, McClennen & Fish. Mark currently serves as a Director of the New England Legal Foundation and the National Academy for the Advancement of Teacher Education. Mark earned a B.A. from Boston College and a J.D. from Boston College Law School.

Barbara U. Birdsey, Vice Chair

Barbara is the founder of the Pegasus Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to animal protection, environmental preservation and public education in various parts of the United States, the Caribbean and Kenya. She founded the Orenda Wildlife Land Trust in Massachusetts and helped co-found the Cape Cod Stranding Network, which is now IFAW’s Marine Mammal Rescue and Research program. A former social worker, Barbara has degrees from Boston University and Bridgewater State College.

Daniel T. Lenyo

Dan has been Vice President at Bright Horizons Family Solutions, an international provider of early education, emergency childcare, educational advisory services, and other work/life solutions to employers and the public, for 10 years. His expertise is in planning, budget control and project management. Dan began his career as an architect, and his 30-year construction management career includes institutional clients such as Boston Children’s Hospital, the Museum of Fine Arts, State Street Bank, Dartmouth College and the New England Aquarium. Dan is on the Finance & Investments Committee of IFAW as well as on the building and governance committees of Horizons for Homeless Children.

Catherine H. Lilly

Kit recently retired from a 23-year career in banking, where she was a Senior Vice President at Bank of America focused on the healthcare, education and non-profit industries. Her goal in retiring was to transition to animal causes full-time. She has an MBA with honors from Boston University, where she focused on the management of public and not-for-profit organizations. Kit is a co-founder and current Board President of Charles River Alleycats, the largest Trap-Neuter-Return group in the Greater Boston area. She is on the Board of the MSPCA-Angell in Boston and serves on the Massachusetts State Council for The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS).

Debobrata Mukherjee

Debo is Chief Marketing Officer of Flowers Foods and brings 25 years of experience in consumer marketing strategies, brand management, and new product development, most recently as founder and owner of Intacta Consulting Group LLC. Prior to launching Intacta, Debo served as CEO of Redco Foods, Inc. and held executive Marketing and General Management positions at Mars Inc., Swedish Match, Unilever-Slim-Fast, H.J. Heinz Co. and Hershey Co. Debo has an MBA from Pennsylvania State University, a Bachelor's Degree from Allegheny College, and has completed diplomas in the UK, Switzerland, and France. He is a passionate animal lover and resides in Georgia with his wife, Moon.

Virginia Alejandra Pollak

Alejandra is head of operations and merchandising at Zady – a sustainable e-commerce lifestyle brand based in New York City. She recently co-founded a fashion sustainability initiative to address the impacts of the apparel industry on people and planet through sound science and harness its power to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Alejandra regularly hosts political fundraising events and salons for candidates from across the country aimed at bridging the gap between political and creative classes to encourage mobility, organization and activism at the local level. She resides in New York City with her husband David and their dachshund, ZZ Top.

Stanley G. Brogan

Stan is a retired partner of Price Waterhouse Australia. After an accounting career that spanned more than 40 years, he currently serves on the boards of a number of private companies and provides financial consulting to many others. Stan also holds a number of community board and committee positions.

Graeme R. Cottam

Graeme has retired from a career in law and accounting in London, Moscow and New York. He has been a board member of two major libraries in the UK, a women’s healthcare charity and a US family foundation. He received a law degree from the University of Bristol in 1977 and was called to the English Bar in Middle Temple in 1978. Graeme is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. In his spare time, he works with fellow activists to help conserve a local nature reserve.

Brian W. Hutchinson

Brian is a corporate affairs, community and charitable giving specialist. He has extensive experience in financial services having worked with the Zurich Group to manage and develop their Corporate Citizenship Strategy and later acting as advisor to the South African High Commission on Corporate Affairs Matters and the Commonwealth Business Council. Brian was the founder member of the South London Business Initiative and served the Department of Trade and Industry as Assistant Secretary and Deputy Director of the Inner Cities Unit. He has worked in a number of additional positions within corporate affairs and has served on a wide array of boards throughout his career.
