IFAW’s rescue work begins with the individual animal in moments of crisis, from disasters and conflict zones to wildlife injured by human activity or climate-related events. Our teams provide emergency care, veterinary treatment, and rehabilitation alongside local partners, while strengthening wildlife justice systems by training frontline officers to handle live animal seizures safely and humanely. Through marine mammal rescue, confiscation response, and long-term capacity building, we turn urgent interventions into lasting impact—improving survival outcomes, supporting prosecutions that deter crime, and ensuring animals have a second chance to thrive in the wild.

Wildlife Rescue

Our rescue teams save wildlife that have been orphaned, injured, displaced or confiscated in illegal trade. We rescue animals one by one, anytime, anywhere. And we work to rehabilitate rescued animals and return them to the wild.
