Carmen joined IFAW in January 2018 as Campaigns Officer for Wildlife Programmes. Her responsibilities include the campaign to close domestic ivory trade in the EU, the Environmental Crime Directive and the EU Action Plan against Wildlife Trafficking. With several years working in the private, public and non-governmental sector on issues such as international law and judicial cooperation. In recent years she has been involved in wildlife crime issues within the RSPB as Technical advisor on a project to set up a European Network against Environmental Crime and the UN Environment/CMS as Coordinator of the Intergovernmental Task Force of illegal killing, Taking & Trade of Migratory Birds in the Mediterranean.  
Law degree – Universidad de Alcala de Henares, Madrid, Spain. 
LLM/Master of Laws in International Environmental Law – University College of London, United Kingdom
