Moses Niyrenda
Moses Nyirenda is a conservation professional with more than two decades of experience in wildlife management and ecosystem conservation in Zambia. He holds a degree in Agricultural Science (Animal Science) from the University of Zambia and a master’s degree in Management of Natural Resources and Sustainable Agriculture from the Norwegian University of Life Sciences.
He began his career with the Zambian government before joining the Frankfurt Zoological Society as Technical Advisor for the EU-funded North Luangwa Ecosystem Management Project. Here, Moses focused on protected area planning, community engagement, wildlife crime prevention, and research.
In 2011, Moses joined WWF Zambia, where he established and led the Wildlife Programme across key landscapes including the Luangwa Valley, Kafue, Sioma Ngwezi, and the Upper Zambezi. He later served as Chief Conservation Officer, overseeing programmes in wildlife, freshwater, forestry, energy, and climate.
Moses joined IFAW in 2025, continuing his work in landscape-scale conservation and community-based wildlife protection.
