Carbon footprint report 2021
Carbon footprint report 2021
In alignment with our mission, IFAW is dedicated to reducing our environmental impact and embedding sustainability principles throughout the organization’s operations. This includes measuring and reporting on the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions resulting from IFAW facilities and operations to the UN Climate Neutral Now platform. The Carbon Footprint Report presents a summary of emissions during the 2021 calendar year.
In line with global best practices on reporting emissions, we enhanced our methodology to capture, as much as possible, the downstream carbon emissions generated through IFAW activities. This included the emissions associated with our supporter mailings, which were not captured in our 2020 report. We continue to work with our mailing vendors to reduce the environmental footprint of our mailings. Since 2021, IFAW has taken advantage of opportunities to secure renewable energy sources in the US and install solar panels on our Netherlands office building.
As we did in 2020, IFAW has fully offset our residual carbon emissions for 2021 by supporting approved offset projects on the UN Climate Neutral Now platform.
Every problem has a solution, every solution needs support.
The problems we face are urgent, complicated, and resistant to change. Real solutions demand creativity, hard work, and involvement from people like you.
