Brian Sharp
United States
Brian has dedicated his entire career to the study and rescue of marine mammals, including seals, dolphins, and large whales. He oversees a team of highly committed biologists, technicians, and over 260 volunteers across southeastern Massachusetts, the world’s busiest area for live cetacean strandings. He leads rescue missions both on Cape Cod and internationally, using knowledge gained over the years to train responders worldwide.
Brian works to advance marine mammal conservation by serving on a federal advisory panel focused on reducing life-threatening whale entanglements. As a Level 5 responder under NOAA Fisheries, he is among the few rescue professionals authorized to rescue critically endangered North Atlantic right whales.
