Small comforts make a big difference for orphaned wildlife
When bushfires, cars, or habitat loss separate young animals from their mothers, recovery is about more than medical care—it’s about comfort, too.
At Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary, one of IFAW’s trusted partners in Australia, carers focus not only on physical recovery, but also on emotional healing. Pacifiers are often used to comfort young animals in care, helping to reduce anxiety and provide a familiar, calming sensation during feeding and rest. Paired with expert rehabilitation and round-the-clock care, these gentle moments of comfort help vulnerable animals feel safe again—an essential step on their journey toward recovery and eventual release.
We’re deeply proud of this partnership: Together, IFAW and Bonorong helped establish Tasmania’s only fully dedicated wildlife veterinary hospital, and funded essential veterinary staff—ensuring expert care is there when animals need it most.
You can be part of all of it with a gift today! Will you join IFAW with a donation, and know you’re helping orphaned animals heal all over the world?
