trafficked: 10 species threatened by the wildlife trade
Wildlife trafficking and unsustainable wildlife and plant trade is a multi-billion-dollar industry and a major threat to species in the U.S. and worldwide, according to the Endangered Species Coalition in a report released today entitled Trafficked: 10 Species Threatened by the Wildlife Trade. The report offers an overview of 10 select plant and animal species nominated by member groups of the Coalition, where the legal and illegal wildlife trade not only poses catastrophic effects on both species decline, but in some cases, potentially exacerbates the spread of diseases that also pose a major threat to human health.
