Along with Burkina Faso and Niger, Benin is home to the last viable elephant population in West Africa. IFAW works together with the Beninese government, to expand the security mission of the K9 Brigade in Cotonou. We have created a wildlife crime detection program to train eight dog-handler units, incorporating best practices and high animal welfare standards, with the objective of deploying them at ports and airports to sniff out wildlife products.
Every problem has a solution, every solution needs support.
