The way we treat animals—from wildlife to our beloved companion animals—reflects who we are as individuals and where we stand as a global society. Julika strives to help make the world a better place for animals and people through her work.
As Vice President of Brand Marketing & Communications at IFAW, Julika guides a skilled team to grow IFAW’s brand recognition, with a focus on expanding our narrative to other sectors and inspiring change through captivating stories about our work.
Julika’s extensive experience in communications includes retail, philanthropy and most recently conservation and animal welfare as Deputy Vice President of Global Communications for IFAW. She has held leading roles as a communications partner for several international NGOs and UN agency relations (UNICEF, Save the Children, MSF, and IRC).
Previously, as Communications Manager at the IKEA Foundation, Julika developed communication strategies comprised of multi-channel content for education programs and humanitarian and agricultural livelihood portfolios. She also led the foundation’s digital and social medial channels, growing their Facebook community to over 1.3 million followers.
Her shift from the corporate world to an NGO convinced Julika that there is a great need for different sectors to work together to create positive change for animals, people and the place we call home.
Julika holds a Master’s in Public Relations with postgraduate degrees in Politics and Media Law. She studied in her native country of Germany and in New Zealand. She currently calls the Netherlands home.
