Nicolas de Boisgrollier
Nicolas lived and worked a decade in Southeast Asia focusing on impact investing, an approach that factors in social and environmental objectives into the investment process. Prior to joining IFAW, Nicolas worked at GFN (Global Footprint Network) — the environmental NGO behind Earth Overshoot Day and country overshoot days — as its head of business development and partnerships. In Asia, he contributed to several local NGOs fighting animal cruelty, such as bear bile farming. With IFAW, Nicolas can pursue his work on behalf of people and nature.
Nicolas also has significant experience within large corporations. At AXA, a leading insurance and financial services group, he supported the Group’s main executive bodies on a wide array of issues, first as a strategic auditor at the Group’s HQ in Paris, then as an executive committee member of AXA Life Japan, in charge of strategy and business development. Nicolas started his career in France as a corporate banker with HSBC and Natixis.
Nicolas honed his international policy analysis skills at the Brookings Institution, a leading think tank based in Washington, D.C., as a visiting fellow for two years (foreign policy studies department). He also taught risk management and international affairs as an adjunct professor at the Institut d’Etudes Politiques (Sciences Po) in Paris.
Nicolas was born in Senegal and partly grew up in Northern Africa, in an animal and nature loving family constantly exploring the beauties of this part of the world. In his current role, he genuinely appreciates the opportunity to help implement IFAW's vision and projects on the ground, with a particular interest in human-wildlife coexistence and the fight against wildlife trafficking. One of his most intense experiences was his stay at the IFAW-sponsored elephant clinic in Zimbabwe.
