Two weeks ago today, the International Fund for Animal Welfare and our proud partners unveiled a new Apple iPad and iPhone app to help mariners protect endangered right whales from collision with large ships moving up and down the East Coast of the United States.
We were all thrilled to show and share this incredible breakthrough at our press conference in Boston. But we had no idea the “whale app” story would meet with such massive media appeal! Print, online and broadcast media all chipped in to take the whale app story global.
The new Whale Alert app, which is a free download from the iTunes store, puts real time information in front of mariners to help them save whales. That simple story quickly grew as big as the marine mammals IFAW is working to save.
Thanks to another cool technology breakthrough by our friends at Storify we’re able to put some of the last 14 days of coverage at your fingertips. See the Storify embed below.
IFAW is going to make more massive good news for whales next week in Washington, D.C.. Thanks for staying tuned, and for lending us and the whales a hand. Remember, together we can save them!
