IFAW vets care for a golden eagle, as they would any other patient, at the Beijing Raptor Rescue Center in China.

Vanuit een wirwar van jassen en benen, camera's, statieven en microfoons kwam een groene houten kist tevoorschijn. En uit die kist kwam geen enkel geluid.

Alleen een onheilspellende stilte.

De stropers reden vanuit Tsjaad en Sudan te paard het park binnen, met automatische wapens en slechts één doel voor ogen: zoveel mogelijk olifanten doden en hun slagtanden bemachtigen.

Two weeks ago today, the International Fund for Animal Welfare and our proud partners unveiled a new Apple iPad and iPhone app to help mariners protect endangered right whales from collision with large ships moving up and down the East Coast of the United States.  

We were all thrilled to show and share this incredible breakthrough at our press conference in Boston.  But we had no idea the “whale app” story would meet with such massive media appeal!  Print, online and broadcast media all chipped in to take the whale app story global.

Wildlife crime is an international industry made up of a chain of criminal acts – poaching is followed by illegal transport, processing, smuggling, sales, money laundering and so on – a deliberate sequence of criminality involving many sets of grubby hands.
