Eine vom IFAW-WTI (Internationaler Tierschutz-Fonds, Wildlife Trust of India) mit der Hand aufgezogene Nashornkuh hat vor etwa acht Tagen ein gesundes weibliches Nashornkalb in freier Wildbahn im Manas Nationalpark im Nordosten Indiens geboren.

Determined to avoid animals starving in Cyprus, funds finally reach shelters

Disasters affecting people and animals can happen anywhere at any time.

The International Fund for Animal Welfare has a great team of people trained and experienced in going to dangerous places to help animals recover – places like Tripoli during the fighting in Libya or Haiti after the earthquake or even Fukushima after the tsunami and subsequent nuclear disaster there.

A healthy, female calf has been born in Manas National Park, to a rhinoceros hand-raised by IFAW-WTI as an orphan and moved to the park as part of a species reintroduction.

“This is the first calf born in the wild in India from a rhino that had been hand-raised, rehabilitated and released to the wild,” said Azzedine Downes, president and CEO of the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW -  www.ifaw.org).

Der IFAW (Internationaler Tierschutz-Fonds) reagiert auf Hilferufe von Tierheimen in Zypern und unterstützt diese mit einem Notfall-Fonds. Aufgrund der Finanzkrise sind die Heime nicht länger in der Lage, genügend Futter für die Tiere zu kaufen - ohne finanzielle Hilfe droht den Tieren der Hungertod.
