Сегодня, накануне Международного дня защиты китов, экологи призывают Exxon, BP и Роснефть сохранить краснокнижного серого кита, обитающего в российских водах.

День защиты китов отмечается в мире с 19 февраля 1986 года, когда Международная китобойная комиссия (МКК) ввела запрет на коммерческий китобойный промысел. Сегодня промысел китов разрешен только коренным народам, а также в научных целях по специальным разрешениям МКК.

Valentijnsdag was de dag van de vrijheid voor deze tijgerin die opgesloten zat tussen de dorpjes in Kaziranga National Park. Vorig weekend werd ze weer uitgezet in het wild, nabij een kamp in het midden van het park.

As the Hunting Act reaches its 10th anniversary today (Wed), the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) calls for better enforcement to deal with hunters who continue to flout the law so they can chase or kill British wildlife for fun.

IFAW, along with other groups, successfully campaigned for a ban on the cruel ‘sport’ of hunting foxes, stags and hares with a pack of hounds and continues to monitor hunts to gather evidence of suspected illegal activity.

The dawn of Valentines Day heralded freedom for a tigress that was trapped in the fringe villages of Kaziranga National Park on 7th February 2015. Last weekend, she was released in the wilderness near a forest camp in the central range of the park.
