US lawmakers urge Japan to stop

A few days ago, representatives of the Bush administration issued a statement asking Japan to stop their whale hunt, and to pursue scientific research in less destructive ways.  Now, members of the Senate are following suit.  US Senators including Joe Biden, Barbara Boxer, and Olympia Snowe sent a letter to Japan's ambassador, indicating their concern that protected species were being targeted.  The letter was a bipartisan effort, with both Democrats and Republicans signing.  Click here to read the full-text of the letter, and to see who signed.
