Badger

With badger culls starting in pilot areas, it is vital that our MPs understand the strength of feeling against the Government’s policy. The Government needs to recognise the widespread opposition throughout the country to badger culls. If you agree that badgers shouldn’t be made the scapegoat for a problem they didn’t cause and the victims of a policy that won’t work, please write to your MP.

We have provided a draft letter, but please adapt it as you like to make your own views clear. If your friends or family are similarly angry about the Government’s policy, please encourage them to also contact their MP. Thank you.

Join in the fight against wildlife crime by writing to the Police and Crime Commissioner for your area. Urge them to ensure that deer, foxes and hares are protected from hunters who continue to flout the law and chase wild animals for sport, and to ensure that those who lawfully monitor the hunts’ activities to gather evidence for potential prosecutions do not have their work impeded by unlawful blocking tactics of the hunting community.

A quick note to the Police and Crime Commissioner will help end illegal hunting. We've prepared a template e-mail for you to send. We encourage you to personalise this copy to make it more effective. Please ensure that you are polite at all times.

The planned culls could lead to cruel and painful badger deaths

We need to raise awareness of the scale of the illegal online trade in wildlife products, particularly ivory. Help us protect elephants and their ivory from being traded illegally on the internet.

Urge your Minister to strengthen laws and crack down on this crime.

Polar bears

Polar bears face many threats -- from climate change to pollution to oil and gas development. The commercial trade of polar bears skins and parts is also causing a devastating decline in their numbers. Please act today to help us get the polar bear uplisted to Appendix 1 of the Convention of International Trade in Endangered Species.

Whale

The Iceland Government has set up a committee to consider all aspects of whales and whaling in Iceland. They are set to review the impact of whaling on Iceland’s international reputation, as well as the possibility of a whale sanctuary. Please let them know that you support an official end to Iceland whaling and the establishment of a whale sanctuary in Iceland waters.

People around the world continue to say ‘no’ to seal products, but the Canadian government stubbornly continues trying to sell these cruel products. They are fighting the EU ban at the WTO and trying to overturn the ban in Russia.  The bans must be defended!

Tell Canada that the seal hunt must end and that you will defend your right to say ‘no’ to cruelty.  I’ve included this letter for your Canadian Embassy - please feel free to personalise it by adding your own language.
