On this World Oceans Day, protecting some of its largest inhabitants has become easier with the launch of the Whale Alert app for Android. 

This free app now available on Android and Apple devices is the first of its kind created to protect and conserve whales along both coasts of the United States and now Canada’s eastern seaboard.

With its participation in the European Commission’s Environmental Conference, Green Week, in Brussels this week, the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) is calling for urgent measures to address the catastrophic poaching crisis and global wildlife trafficking.

Considering the ever increasing trade in endangered species which brings many species to the brink of extinction, IFAW welcomes the Commission’s initiative to prepare a Wildlife Crime Action Plan.
