The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) will destroy more than one ton of contraband ivory in New York City on Friday, June 19 alongside conservation leaders including International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW). The event, which is intended to raise awareness about the global elephant poaching and wildlife trafficking crisis, will begin at 10:30 am ET on Broadway between 46 and 47.

This month I joined IFAW’s efforts to provide relief for thousands of animals stricken by the historic floods and mudslides in Northern Chile.

Tragically, many animals were caught by the flood and died.

But others are still with their families and they are for the most part able to feed them because dog and cat food is readily available at the moment.

Kind people often appear where and when you least expect them.

Our animal welfare technician was driving his regular community outreach route with our mobile unit in rural Mexico when he suddenly heard a familiar noise coming from an empty lot.

He parked and found a litter of puppies playing in the garbage, with a friendly mother dog close by.
