For many in disadvantaged communities around the world, a dog or cat is all a person has. But there can sometimes be problems looking after the animals' welfare. Veterinary services are often unavailable, making dogs and cats more vulnerable to disease, malnutrition and abandonment. Illnesses and injuries therefore go untreated most of the times.
The pain of these animals adds to the suffering of their owners. Imagine having to stand by helpless while your pet starves or is in pain. Yet that is exactly what many in underserved communities face everyday.
