ACTION: Speak up for dogs in the European Union

IFAW works directly in the halls of the EU Parliament.

The European Union is just a few signatures away from adopting a declaration on dog management strategies which could help fight against the mass killing of stray dogs and the illegal puppy trade within the European Union.

Written Declaration 26
promotes responsible pet ownership, supports anti-cruelty laws and recognises how the health and well-being of people and animals are connected to each other. The adoption of WD26 will send a clear message that Member States should undertake proactive, humane measures to prevent the spread of disease and reduce the suffering of dogs.

To reach the 369 signatures that are needed to adopt this measure, we only need 47 more by tomorrow, October 13th. This measure would be an important step towards protecting dogs in the European Union, and we need your help to make it happen.

Please take a moment and speak up for dogs in the EU by letting your MEP know that Written Declaration 26 should be adopted, and that you want to see dog welfare addressed at the EU level. To get started, pick one of your local MEPs from those listed for your country of region, and make note of his or her contact information.

Then FAX, CALL, or E-MAIL your MEPs office and tell them why you care about dogs in the EU and why they should too.

Let them know that Written Declaration 26 will promote community healthy and safety, and is an important step towards ending the cruel and needless suffering of dogs.

Please take action NOW
.

Time is running out and we’re so close to achieving this important step towards improving the lives of dogs throughout the European Union. -- SS

Take action now, contact your MP and tell them why you care about what happens to dogs in the European Union.

I really hope this important action will promote love and support for animals not only throughout the European Union, but also all over the world... there are still too many people thinking that animals have no feelings or a soul and that to kill them has no consequences at all... if you don't love them, you don't love your own life.
