De rechtszaak die Australië bij het Internationaal Gerechtshof aanspande tegen Japan vanwege het jagen op walvissen in beschermde wateren bij Antarctica, is vandaag beëindigd. Het International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) hoopt dat hiermee een einde komt aan de ‘wetenschappelijke’ walvisjacht en dat er een betere bescherming komt voor walvissen.
