Ntubya, the orphaned elephant airlifted to Elephant Orphanage Project, has died.

Ntubya during her treatment at the Elephant Orphanage Project.Found scared and alone, the elephant calf came into our care severely dehydrated and protein-deficient from weeks of being separated from her mother and her nourishing milk.

A plan for a proposed Kitenden Conservancy within Kenya’s vast Amboseli ecosystem was unveiled today. Once operational the Conservancy will offer a three-pronged benefit to protect wildlife, for the local community through eco-friendly compatible tourism and enterprise projects and for investors through tourism development.

The plan was announced at Amboseli National Park today by IFAW (International Fund for Animal Welfare– www.ifaw.org) in partnership with the Executive Committee of the Kitenden Corridor Conservation Area.

マラウイのリウォンデ国立公園で今日、ユニークな保護教育パートナーシップが大きな興奮とともに発足しました。このイニシアチブが日々野生生物と暮らす地域社会の学校卒業率の向上に効果を発揮するという期待も大きいです。

国際動物福祉基金(IFAW-www.ifaw.org)と教育NGO、HELPマラウイ(希望、教育、愛、保護–www.helpchildren.org)のパートナーシップの正式な発足式がマラウイのバラカ地区のナンソンバ小学校で行われました。

「このイニシアチブは、野生生物と日々生活を共にしている人々の知識と考え方を向上させることを目的とした地域密着型の教育プログラムを展開していきます。その中で特に重要なのは、この地域の生徒の卒業率を上げ、落第生の数を減らすことです」とIFAWの動物行動教育プログラム・ディレクター、ナンシー・バーは言います。
