A gift to IFAW in your Will can bring relief to suffering animals around the world. Thanks to our supporters, IFAW is the most effective voice for animal welfare, working across the globe to prevent cruelty to animals, protect wildlife habitat, and rescue animals in the wake of disasters.

Including a gift to IFAW in your Will is the perfect way to make a brighter future for animals, to honour your deep commitment to helping them and to show the world that IFAW’s lifesaving work is part of your life’s story.

Surprisingly it is estimated that one third of Australians do not have a Will. A Will is the only sure and legal way you can ensure your wishes are carried out once you’re gone.

Your legacy gift to IFAW will ensure that your love for animals will live on in the lives you will be helping save for years to come.

Leaving IFAW Australia in your Will

The best way to leave a gift to IFAW and the easiest option for you is to simply leave the ‘residue’ of your estate, known as a ‘residuary bequest’.

This is simply what is left of your estate after your friends and family have been provided for. One of the main benefits of this type of gift is that you don’t have to worry about amending the gift in your Will if your financial situation changes.

Other ways in which you could provide for IFAW in your Will, includes:

  • A specific dollar amount
  • A percentage of your estate
  • Listing IFAW as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy or trust
  • A specific property (e.g. Stock)

Your solicitor will be able to help you decide what the right choice is for you.

Information for your solicitor

Any gift to IFAW makes a huge difference. When adding IFAW to your Will your solicitor will need to know:

  • IFAW is a non – profit organisation
  • ABN: 90 002 655 754
  • Our legal name is the International Fund for Animal Welfare, (Australia) Pty Limited.
  • Our registered address is: 6 Belmore St, Surry Hills NSW 2010

Wording Your Bequest

The following wording may help you and your solicitor in drawing up a bequest to meet your specific needs:

I give, devise and bequeath to the International Fund for Animal Welfare, a nonprofit charitable organisation, located at 6 Belmore St, Surry Hills NSW 2010 the sum of $__________ (or a designated portion of the residue of my estate) to be used by IFAW to further its goal to assist and protect the world from cruelty and suffering.

If you have already made a Will, here’s how to include IFAW

If you have already written a Will, adding a bequest to IFAW is very easy. You can simply amend your Will to include an extra bequest by making a codicil. Or you can rewrite your Will to make sure all your wishes are up to date. All it takes is a phone call to your solicitor – and a lasting gift for the animals is on its way.

IFAW’s Future for Animals Society

IFAW is grateful to supporters who have already advised us of their intentions to protect animals through naming IFAW in their Will and honours them with membership in the esteemed Future for Animals Society. As a valued member of this society, you will receive invitations to IFAW events in your region, information on estate planning, and reports on IFAW's efforts to end animal suffering around the world.
