A Living Success Story: The Marine Mammal Protection Act

The United States is celebrating the 45th anniversary of the Marine Mammal Protection Act (MMPA) this year. In this report, we recount the marine mammal crisis that led to its creation, the structure of the act, and the many examples of success for whales, dolphins, and other marine mammals in our waters because of these common sense protections. Just like these precious animals, the MMPA itself could be in danger from unrestrained industry influence if we don't act to save it on behalf of these animals and places they call home.
