Dr. Carl Safina, author of “Beyond Words: What Animals Think and Feel,” was our first guest at IFAW’s International Operations Center in Yarmouthport, MA, when IFAW launched a new Speaker Series on Sept. 26.

Dr. Safina’s TedTalk, “What are animals thinking and feeling?” has been viewed nearly 2 million times. He has won a MacArthur Fellowship (known as the “Genius Grants”) and was named one of “100 Notable Conservationists of the 20th Century” by Audubon Magazine. In his PBS show, Saving the Ocean, he takes viewers around the world and introduces innovations in marine conservation.

His other books include “Nina Delmar: The Great Whale Rescue,” “Voyage of the Turtle: In Pursuit of the Earth's Last Dinosaur” and “Song for the Blue Ocean: Encounters Along the World's Coasts and Beneath the Seas.”
