I Found A Way to Protect animals

Watch the IFAW, "I Found A Way" TV spot above.

If, like me, you have ever witnessed a horrific natural disaster or tragic circumstance unfolding or seen images from something like that on TV, you have probably thought to yourself, “what could I do to help?”

Maybe you felt this way when you watched the devastation from Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines or when you hear news stories of elephants slaughtered for their ivory by the thousands, or when you see reports that Iceland has announced new whaling quotas.

Throughout my career as a veterinarian, I have constantly come into contact with people who inspire me with their commitment to help animals. Now in my role leading the program team here at the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW), I am truly moved by the passion and commitment of our supporters around the world.

These concerned citizens in dozens of countries have stood up to make a difference and helped to spread the good word of our animal welfare mission. Some mentioned the plight of animals in the Philippines to their friends. Some shared a post about stopping the ivory trade on their social networks. Many signed a petition to save whales in Iceland. Others still generously made a donation.

They found a way to help, and you can too.

Thanks to supporters like you, we are able to not only rescue individual animals from cruelty and disasters, but also provide for their long-term protection. It takes a combination of compassion, urgent action and consistent, patient, strategic effort, but with that combination, we can find ways to build a better world for both animals and people.

I want to thank IFAW supporters for the opportunities I have had to provide hands-on care and long-term protection to dogs, cats, livestock and other domestic animals as well as wild animals such as orphan elephants in India and Africa, tiger cubs in Russia, or whales in the United States and Australia.

Take a moment to find a way that you can join us and help too.
