Protect elephants: Help end elephant poaching

African Elephant

Elephant poaching has risen to record levels.  As many as 35,000 elephants were brutally killed for their tusks last year in Africa alone.  Criminal syndicates make millions in profit through the sale of ivory.  Without international support, African countries can’t win the fight against poaching.

IFAW urges European decision makers to establish an EU Action Plan against wildlife trafficking.  Only an action plan backed by the EU Council has the necessary authority to bring Europe’s resources together to fully protect elephants from poaching and address threats to national and global security from ivory trafficking.

Sign our petition and ask our leaders, including the EU Commissioner for the Environment, to do all they can to stop the ongoing slaughter of elephants.

Dear Commissioner for the Environment,
I urge the European Union to protect the world's remaining elephants by establishing an Action Plan for wildlife trafficking that brings together the necessary resources to support governments to take action to reduce poaching and illegal ivory trade. This includes supporting on-the-ground protection for elephants, enforcing wildlife crime laws and pushing for demand reduction in China and other key countries.
