Daina Bray

General Counsel

As General Counsel, Daina leads IFAW’s legal team and advises on all legal and governance matters, in support of IFAW’s efforts to rescue and protect animals around the world. Daina works closely with the Boards of Directors, CEO and senior management on legal issues and risk management, collaborating with IFAW teams across all country offices and departments. Since joining IFAW in 2014, Daina has managed corporate governance for IFAW’s offices in 16 countries, including establishing new entities to support IFAW’s strategic vision. Daina advises on all legal aspects of IFAW’s activities, including in relation to contracts, data protection, fundraising, insurance, intellectual property and animal law issues.
 
Prior to joining IFAW, Daina practiced litigation and international arbitration with private law firms for nine years. Daina received her JD from Stanford Law School, with pro bono distinction, and her BA in International Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as a Morehead Scholar. Following college, Daina spent a year as a Fulbright Scholar in Kingston, Jamaica working on environmental education projects. Daina is Chair of the American Bar Association TIPS Animal Law Committee, and is admitted to practice law in Massachusetts, New York, Tennessee, Louisiana (inactive) and North Carolina (inactive).
