Endangered Species & Wildlife Charity Fund Donations
When you make endangered wildlife charity fund donations,
you want to know that your money makes a real difference.
IFAW programs provide real results to dozens of species of
threatened wild animals, and hope for mistreated domestic
animals. IFAW campaigns in seven major areas: emergency relief,
whales and whaling, elephants and ivory, pet rescue, wildlife trade
and saving seals, plus many national and regional efforts. We are
dedicated to finding practical solutions that benefit both animals
and people worldwide.
IFAW works to save many sea creatures, including the
green turtle. Our
opposition to the application for the Cayman Island Green
Turtle Captive Breeding Farm was based on our concern
that international trade in the Cayman Farm turtle shell
would facilitate illegal trade in turtles in the region,
that the operation of the turtle farm was inhumane, and
that the conditions in which these turtles were kept were
foul and overcrowded. It is also not certain if the
population was founded on legally acquired stock.
Our organization is
developing workable alternatives to culling seals in the UK
to ensure protection for the common seal and the grey seal.
Providing assistance to UK seal populations is crucial, since
40% of the global population of grey seals and 40% of the
European subspecies of the common seal live in UK waters.
IFAW saving the whales campaigns have produced measurable
results. IFAW joined forces with the Natural Resources
Defense Council and 55 Mexican environmental groups to form
the Coalition to Save Laguna San Ignacio. Laguna San Ignacio
was the last unspoiled Pacific gray whale nursery in the world.
In 2000, Mexican president Zedillo announced that the area
would remain undeveloped; a
major victory for the gray whale.
We support efforts to
help domestic animals that live in abysmal conditions. IFAW has helped Yudisthira -- Bali Street Dog Foundation, by
donating a van to its Mobile Veterinary Clinic. Our support
has also been used to purchase the much-needed ketamine, xylazine,
long-acting penicillin, Ivomec, sutures, Betadine and alcohol
needed to treat the island's desperate animals.
