The aims of this research passage were to further examine baleen whale distribution and vocalizations during the Atlantic crossing and to explore beaked whale presence and distribution over oceanic seamounts and offshore abyssal waters. The route skirted the coast of Canada and then south of Greenland, and the team arrived in Iceland at the end of July 2012. There were two research aims during the passage. The first aim was to investigate the presence of blue whales in the Laurentian Channel, Canada.
