Protecting animals through international agreements

IFAW campaigns for the strongest possible protection for individual animals, wild populations and their habitats through international agreements and organizations such as:

• United Nations Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES)
• United Nations Universal Declaration for Animal Welfare (UDAW)
• International Whaling Commission (IWC)
• Convention on Migratory Species (CMS), Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and more.

We’re also committed to ensuring effective enforcement of regulations through training anti-poaching rangers, customs agents and wildlife law enforcement officers.
