There's still work to do, but the passage of this bill is good news for California's animals.I’m happy to report that California Governor Jerry Brown signed Assembly Bill 789, a historic anti-trapping cruelty bill, into law on August 27!

The mobile unit gives our project in Playa del Carmen versatility. In July, the IFAW mobile unit transported some of our most valuable resources, Coco’s Cat Rescue staff and volunteers, to offer a spay and neuter clinic in Cancun.

Statement from:  International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) and World Wildlife Fund (WWF)

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s announcement today that it will destroy the U.S. stockpile of illegal ivory – 6 tons of it seized by U.S. authorities – is an important signal for the need to end trafficking in illegal elephant products. A recent surge in this illicit trade has resulted in the killing of 30,000 African elephants annually in recent years.
