The European General Court today upheld the EU trade regulation on seal products. In a strongly-worded and crystal clear decision the court dismissed any concerns that either the EU seal trade regulation, or its implementation, lacked a legal basis.

“This is a satisfying result for IFAW,” said Sonja Van Tichelen, IFAW EU Regional Director. “We have European citizens onside, we have the scientific community onside, and now we have the legal community onside in shutting Europe’s door to the unnecessary cruelty of commercial sealing.”

Der Europäische Gerichtshof bestätigte heute das EU-Handelsverbot für Robbenprodukte. Das Gericht wies entschieden alle Einwände zurück, das Handelsverbot selbst oder seine Implementierung entbehre einer legalen Grundlage. Der IFAW (Internationaler Tierschutz-Fonds) begrüßt diese Entscheidung.

Katten in het Malcolm kattenasiel wachten ongeduldig op hun eten.

Deze week ontvingen de asielen op Cyprus weer een levering voedsel. Leveranciers brachten maar liefst 65 zakken voer (in totaal 1300 kilo!) naar twee asielen. Zo kregen 320 dieren weer te eten.
