Canada’s Commercial Seal Hunt and the Proposal for a Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council Conerning Trade in Seals Products

On 23 July, 2008, the European Commission adopted a proposal for a regulation banning the trading of seal products within, into, and from the European Union. This proposal is in response to a Written Declaration signed by 425 Members of the European Parliament in September 2006, requesting that the European Commission produce a legislative proposal for a ban on seal products.
