VIDEO: A Whale in Darling Harbour? Japanese Boats in the Southern Ocean?

With the whales heading south towards Antarctica, we begin the countdown to the Japanese fleet departure as they head out to kill up to 1,000 whales in the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary.

We decided to highlight the irony by working with the amazing creative team at JWT Melbourne who brought a 'whale' to Darling Harbour. In a spectacular display on Thursday night an aqua screen designed to look like a whale blow illuminated Darling Harbour with the horrific facts about Japanese 'scientific' whaling.

The Australian Government has filed a case against Japanese so called 'scientific' whaling in the Southern Ocean with the International Court of Justice and we at IFAW will continue to do everything we can to support the Government and help bring an end to the slaughter.

Patrick Ramage - our global whale campaign director - was in Sydney to meet with the government and call on all those opposed to whaling to join our campaign by texting SAVE to  +61 488 771 771 and join in our efforts to end whaling once and for all.
