Australia elects new PM

Australian politician Kevin Rudd, leader of the Labour Party, was elected as the country's Prime Minister in a recent election.  Rudd soundly defeated incumbant John Howard, and ran on a platform which recognized the importance of a variety of environmental issues.  During the run-up to the election, Rudd was quoted as saying he'd used Australia's military presence to prevent Japanese hunters from killing whales in the Australian Antarctic Territory.  Groups like the Sea Shepherd are now calling on Rudd to keep his promise, but there's been no response from the Prime Minister's office.
