Rubber horse aids in large animal rescue
The United Kingdom recently enacted legislation to improve the odds of large animals, like horses, being rescued in emergency situations. Now firefighters are getting a chance to practice their rescue techniques using a $10000 American rubber horse named "Lucky". Weighing in at 992 pounds, and fully articulated, "Lucky" is believed to simulate the weight and feel of a sedated horse. As the model is made of rubber, training can be conducted in a variety of weather conditions, as well as indoors. 132 firefighters are scheduled to receiving training using "Lucky", which will hopefully prove "lucky" to some real horses in future rescue scenarios.
