Last minute holiday gifts for animal lovers
Fortunately, the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) has a gift giving program called Gift for Animals that eliminates all that unpleasantness and offers an opportunity to help animals around the world.
Here’s how it works:
Go to animalgift.org and pick a campaign you would like to support and the dollar amount of your gift.
For example, $25 pays for the medication for a health check-up of an orphaned bear cub and $50 cleans one helpless penguin trapped in an oil spill.
You’ll receive a gift card package containing a full-color pamphlet telling the story behind the animal your gift saved, plus a distinctive gift card to send to the gift recipient.
In addition, with gifts up to $40 the recipient also receives a beaded ornament handmade in South Africa; gifts up to $75 include a stainless steel water bottle (in one of four colors).
“Every day we hear dire news about the economy, making it even more critical to focus on what's most important to our lives this holiday season. That's why, once again this year, we’re doing something different and giving a Gift for Animals. IFAW's Gift for Animals allows us to make a donation on behalf of someone else that directly benefits animals around the world. It's the perfect gift, an unusual, meaningful, and responsible way to recognize those we love and do our part to help the world's most vulnerable animals,” said IFAW donors Stephanie and John Reeve.
A Gift for Animals gift offers a unique alternative to traditional or clichéd gifts while supporting work that truly makes a difference. Every gift directly impacts the many animals in need around the world. Order now before it’s too late and make a difference this holiday season.
