Quelques mois après sa capture au Zimbabwe, un groupe d'éléphanteaux a été expédié en Chine samedi dernier à destination du zoo auquel ils ont été vendus. Les éléphants ont été transportés par les airs depuis Harare jusqu'au parc safari de Chimelong, à Guangzhou, une ville située à 120 kilomètres au nord-ouest de Hong Kong.

Een groep van 24 olifanten, die enkele maanden geleden in Zimbabwe gevangen is genomen voor de verkoop aan dierentuinen in China, is afgelopen zaterdag op transport gezet. De olifanten zijn per vliegtuig van Harare naar het omstreden Chimelong Wildlife Safari Park in Goungzhou gebracht, ongeveer 120 kilometer ten noordwesten van Hong Kong.

Er heerst een droge, ondraaglijke hitte op de steppe, waardoor de grond hard wordt en groen gras verkleurt tot levenloos geel.

Bovendien is het seizoen van de branden begonnen.

Months after they were captured from the wild for sale to zoos in China, a group of elephant calves were exported from Zimbabwe on Saturday.

The elephants were airlifted from Harare and have been sent to the Chimelong Wildlife Safari Park in Guangzhou, a city some 120 kms north-west of Hong Kong.

The export was reported and confirmed this morning by Saviour Kasukuwere, Zimbabwe Minister for the Environment, who said 24 elephants had been sent to China.
