SLIDESHOW: Amazing rescue of gibbon family in India

Today, International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) – Wildlife Trust of India (WTI) biologists and veterinarians renewed their efforts to capture and move stranded Hoolock gibbon families in Northeast India.

This is the third leg of an ambitious project to rescue an entire population of gibbons (18 families) stranded in a small cluster of trees in the remote village of Dello in Northeast India.

This time around a family of three gibbons was captured and moved to a safer habitat in Mehao Wildlife Sanctuary.

In total, five gibbon families have been successfully translocated and released since December of last year.
